- Sample size estimation
- Writing the statistical part of the protocol
- Writing statistical analysis plans (SAP) and statistical reports
- Statistical analyses with SAS


October 2014- January 2016 Biostatistician, Oscar Lambret Cancer Center/Lille University Hospital
Lille (SIRIC ONCOLille)
Supervisors: Dr. Andrew Kramar & Pr. Alain Duhamel

Having a full-time contract co-financed both by the Oscar Lambret Cancer Center and Lille University Hospital through the SIRIC ONCOLille (Sites de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer), I work 50% of the time on statistical methodology and 50% of the time on phase I, II and III clinical trials. Here are my tasks:

- Provides statistical input into protocol and case report form (CRF) (e.g. statistical methods for protocol, trial design, randomization…)
- Statistical methodology and sample size estimation
- Writing statistical analysis plans (SAP) and statistical reports
- Realization of statistical analysis (development and validation programs under SAS, Stata, and R)
- Interacts with other departments (data management, clinical research associate, scientific affairs, etc)
- With the medical writer, co-authors final integrated reports of clinical trial data by writing thorough and clear statistical methods sections and producing the statistical appendix for the final report
- Research and definition of statistical methods to implement (bibliography, analysis strategy,…)
- Writing scientific articles
- Valorisation of the results (publications, participates to conference, posters,…)

Sensitivity analysis of a prediction model used to estimate completeness of physician claims databases

- Evaluation of the factors that influence the performance of a predictive non- linear regression model constructed in a derivation sample and then applied to an independent external validation sample

- Estimate the completeness of physician billing claims databases for diabetes. Analysis were done with SAS.

Overfitting of propensity score models-does it matter?

- Evaluation of the impact of overfitting of propensity score models when estimating true underlying probabilities to receive treatment
- See how inaccuracies in these estimates translate to erroneous estimates of treatment effects. Analysis were done with R and SAS.

Computation of the intra-class correlation coefficient and predictive probabilities

- Calculation of intra-class correlation coefficients using mixed effect models.
- Calculation of predictive probabilities in the framework of the comparison of two proportions for the control of a clinical trial comparing two treatments using Bayesian approach. Analysis were done with R.

Using propensity score for meta-epidemiological study in randomized controlled trials

From an example of a meta-epidemiological study comparing estimation of treatment effect between single centre trials and multi centre trials on 48 meta-analyses, we compared results with classic model in two steps, a multilevel model allowing a multivariate analyse, and an adjusted model on the propensity to be a single centre trial. Analysis were done with SAS.
